Privacy
What we store
- Your account: email address, an optional first name, and a password stored only as a salted PBKDF2 hash. We never store the password itself.
- Your conversations: the messages you send and the replies you receive, tied to your account.
- Your memories: the short factual notes described in How it works, which you can read and delete.
- Basic technical data: our infrastructure provider logs requests (IP address, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention.
Why we store it
Conversations and memories exist so the listener can follow your life instead of resetting every session. That is the product. Nothing here is used to build an advertising profile, and we do not sell personal data.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare — hosting, database and network (US-based infrastructure).
- DeepSeek — the language model that generates replies. Messages are sent to their API to produce a response.
Both are processors acting on our instructions. We do not grant them rights to use your conversations for their own purposes beyond providing the service.
What we do not do
- No selling or renting of personal data.
- No advertising trackers on the app or marketing pages.
- No sharing of your conversations with other users.
Your controls
- Memories: view, add and delete each line in the app's memories panel.
- Everything: email us and we will delete your account, conversations and memories.
- Access/copy: ask and we will export what we hold.
Retention
We keep your data while your account exists. Deleted memories are removed immediately from the active database. Account deletion removes conversations and memories with it.
Age
This service is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe a minor has an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Not a covered health provider
Ill Just Listen is not a healthcare provider and does not create medical records. Please do not use it to store clinical information you would only share with a doctor.
